In Canada, unions play a major role in supplying crews for Canadian vessels. The three big unions that supply crews, which are The Canadian Merchant Service Guild (Guild) supply's Navigation Officers, Canadian Marine Officers' Union (CMOU) supply Engineering Officers, and the Seafarers' International Union (SIU) helps supply's crew from Wheelman's, Ordinary Seaman, Mechanical Assistants, Tunnelman, and Galley Crew. To get employment with a unionized company, one must search for a Union Hall and enter one's name on the Job Board. The British Columbia Ferries and Marine Workers Union is a in house union. For employment one must apply at any of the BC Ferries Terminals. Crewing and Ship Management companies are not big in providing crews for Canadian vessels and are mostly searching for crews for international vessels like cruise ships.
